Have you ever had something wonderful happen to you that makes you feel so completely happy and joyful that you think the feeling will never end? But then it does end, sometimes being worn away by the mere passage of time, and sometimes it is “shut down” by something unwonderful happening. What would it be worth to you if you could live in everlasting joy? A million dollars? More? What if it were a free gift? Would you stand in line for it? For a year? Well, we have GOOD NEWS for you!
Life with everlasting gladness and joy is indeed a free gift, and there is no waiting in line. Why is it free, you ask? Because someone else paid for it. You’ve given gifts to people on birthdays and Christmas, and they were free to the people you gave them to because you paid for them. Well, Jesus Christ paid for a gift for you—everlasting life in everlasting joy. Yep. It’s promised in the Bible. Once? Oh no. God wants to be sure you believe Him, so He said it more than once, in different ways, but here are a couple that make the point clearly.
Isaiah 35:10b and 51:11b
“…They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
“…and everlasting joy will be theirs.”
God is so blessed to give away the gift of everlasting life in everlasting joy that His Son made available that He made the directions both clear and easy (which is more than we can say about the last model airplane we bought). Here they are:
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
You are probably saying to yourself, “That was easy! But, what else do I have to do?” Nothing. We said salvation was free, and it is. If you confess Jesus as the Lord and believe God raised him from the dead, then you are saved. Oh, one point of clarification. Your gift of everlasting joy is in “lay away” for you, and you get it at the Rapture when Christ takes us from this earth, but hey, you’ve waited for gifts before (remember waiting for your first bicycle or CD player?), so waiting a few years to get your free gift should not be a problem…but, don’t wait to get saved, because Christians can have joy on earth too. Confess Christ as your Lord today!
