Day of Pentecost, Happy Birthday, Church! Acts 2, 1 Corinthians 2:7, 8
(1235 Reads)

There is no verse of Scripture saying that on the Day of Pentecost God and Jesus were excited and shouting, “Surprise! Happy Birthday!” “Hope you enjoy your present!” Nevertheless, that must have been how they felt that day. God had in mind the “sacred secret,” the Administration of Grace, for thousands of years, but He was the only one who knew. He had hidden it from men, angels, and demons. Good thing, too, for the “present” God gave the Church was so valuable that had Satan known what God was going to do...

Birth of the Church [ekklesia], Acts 2 The Day of Pentecost, Ephesians 2:15
(931 Reads)

 |
The Day of Pentecost, as recorded in Acts 2, is the birthday of the ekklesia. That is the Greek word translated “church,” and it means a “called out group of people.” As we will see, it was on that Pentecost that human beings were for the very first time “born again” of “incorruptible” seed (1 Pet. 1:23-NKJV) via being “…baptized by one spirit into one body…” (1 Cor. 12:13). That “Day” was the beginning of the Administration of the Sacred Secret (Eph. 3:9), and ushered in a new age...

Pentecost [Feast of Weeks, Shavuot]: A Gentile's [non-Jews] Perspective
(915 Reads)
|
|
 |
In the Bible, the word “Gentiles” is used in the Old Testament to refer to all non-Jews. In the New Testament, it is the Greek word ethnos, and means “the nations,” that is, all non-Jewish peoples. In this Administration of the Sacred Secret, which began on the Day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2, all Christians are either former Jews or former Gentiles. To fully appreciate what the Day of Pentecost meant to the Gentiles...

Certainly the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2 is the only biblical event that meets the criteria as the time when the first people ever were “baptized in holy spirit,” setting the pattern for each person thereafter who makes Jesus Christ his Lord. 1 Corinthians 12:13 confirms that: “For we were all baptized by [in] one Spirit [spirit (the gift)] into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink...

The holy spirit Christians have was promised in Christ's Millennial Kingdom
(836 Reads)

Christians enjoy the presence and power of holy spirit in a way never experienced before the Church Age, which began on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2). The holy spirit we have now is what God had promised He would give to Israel in the Millennial Kingdom, with some extra blessings as well. Throughout the Old Testament and Gospel periods, God gave holy spirit to a few believers, but that holy spirit was limited in many ways. God promised Israel that when the Messiah set up his kingdom on earth, He would give a new holy spirit that would be different from the holy spirit He had given throughout the Old Testament...

Christians need to understand the wonderful gift of holy spirit that God has given to us and appreciate the grace we have. We also need to understand why God called the very time in which we live“…the administration of the grace of God…” (Eph. 3:2-Darby Translation). Why is this age, the age of the Christian Church, singled out by God to be called the administration of “grace”? To understand this, we must understand the uniqueness of the Church and see the difference between what we have today and what God gave to people at other times and other ages...

[This is an edited word-for-word transcription of our July 2005 Tape / CD of the Month, “An Overview of the Sacred Secret” by John W. Schoenheit.]
What we are going to cover first in this teaching is to see that the word mystery is the Greek word musterion which is most often translated mystery in the New Testament, and it is not a mystery at all; it is a Sacred Secret. We are going to see why we call musterion a Sacred Secret. We are going to look at verses about the musterion, the Sacred Secret, and see that it was once hidden but now has been made known. We are going to discuss where we would look to find information about the Sacred Secret; including why did God hide it, and why is He now revealing it? That will bring up the fact that God is revealing it because...

God's Goal: Internal Cleansing. Hebrews 10:1 Law, shadow of things to come

All of the ritual and ceremonial washings of the Old Testament were symbolic in nature and were a precursor to the greater reality of the inner cleansing by the Messiah’s work and baptism in holy spirit. In God’s “economy,” they were done away with when the greater baptism that He had in mind finally came to pass on the Day of Pentecost, and the Church began. Interestingly, it was John the Baptist who introduced the phrase “baptize with holy spirit.” The Greek word baptizo means...

Birth seems so much more desirable than adoption that it is fair to ask why God would even use “adoption.” The answer is that the Romans recognized that when a baby was born, “you got what you got,” whether you liked it or not. This would include the sex of the child, birthmarks, etc. Thus, according to Roman law, a naturally born baby could be disowned from the family. However...

This article covers the nine manifestations of the spirit from 1 Corinthians 12. Sometimes referred to as the gifts of the spirit. They are: word of knowledge, word of wisdom, faith, gifts of healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues.
The gift of holy spirit is not observable or detectable by our five senses. Its presence inside the Christian becomes known when it is manifested, made obvious, in the senses world. It may be obvious only to the one with holy spirit, such as when God gives a message of knowledge to someone, and that message is known only by the one receiving it, but...

No doubt that is a question that has been asked by millions of Christians throughout the centuries, and we believe that knowing the answer is vital for maximizing the quality of one's life as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Why? The primary reason, as a study of Scripture will clearly show, is: speaking in tongues is the only absolute proof a Christian has that he is born again and...
