Groaning for Liberation: A study of Romans 8:19-28. Paradise is definitely lost
(2136 Reads)

Paradise is definitely lost. No doubt there are situations in your life that range anywhere from slightly less than perfect all the way to indescribably torturous. Then think about what is going on in the lives of people you know. Then, via TV, newspapers, or the Internet, expand your concentric circles of awareness to the rest of the world, and the countless people suffering day after day from a myriad of hideous circumstances....

What the Bible really says about Death, Judgment, Rewards, Heaven, and the Future Life on a Restored Earth.
God originally planned for mankind to live on earth, and His plan, though postponed by sin, will not be thwarted - it will come to pass in the future when a new earth is created.

What the Bible says about the people that will be in the Millennial Kingdom
(4272 Reads)
The Bible makes it clear that there will be survivors after the Tribulation and the Battle of Armageddon, and some of them will be judged righteous and allowed to enter Christ’s Kingdom. This point must be understood because some Christians teach that after the Battle of Armageddon no one will be alive on earth. This is clearly not the case. Yes, the majority of the people of earth will be dead, but as Isaiah 13:12 and 24:6 say, there will be survivors...

Our Valuable Anchor [1 Corinthians 15:58]. The Psychological Value of Hope
(3616 Reads)
In order to properly understand the Christian’s hope, it is important to examine the exact meaning of the word “hope.” “Hope” means “a desire for, or an expectation of, good, especially when there is some confidence of fulfillment.” It is used that way both in common English and in the Bible. However, the Bible often uses the word “hope” in another way—to refer to the special expectation of good that God has in store for each Christian in the future...

What does the Bible say about the Millennial [Messianic] / Eternal Kingdoms
(8824 Reads)
The Bible indicates that there will be two kingdoms on earth in the future, one following the other. The first kingdom will last 1,000 years and is therefore referred to as the “Millennial (Messianic) Kingdom” (from mil, one thousand, and annus, year). The second kingdom is referred to by the author as the “Everlasting Kingdom.”

Comparing the Millennial [1,000 year] and Everlasting Kingdoms of the Bible
(2186 Reads)
There are literally hundreds of verses in the Bible describing these magnificent future kingdoms. Once someone is saved, God wants to “anchor” that person in his or her commitment by promising wonderful rewards to those who are faithful to Him. Because Christians are “ambassadors” for the Lord (2 Cor. 5:20), we should be knowledgeable about...

Philippians 3:21 Bible study verses: Christian's new glorious resurrected body
(15575 Reads)
Part of the Hope set forth in the Bible is that every saved person will receive a new, glorified body. Probably every person who has lived past the age of 40 has, at one time or another, wanted a “better” body. Every middle-aged person wants fewer aches and pains, more energy, more flexibility, more strength, 20/20 eyesight, better hearing, younger looking skin, fewer sags and wrinkles, and the list goes on and on. For everyone who at anytime has wanted a better body, the Bible has good news.

Receiving what is due. Working for rewards, Matthew 16:27, 2 Corinthians 5:10
(2752 Reads)
The Bible makes it clear that the bottom line for receiving rewards is obedience to God’s commands. In that light, there are certain things clearly commanded in Scripture that every Christian should endeavor to do and even to excel in. For example, prayer is commanded throughout the Bible. Romans 12:12 says, “Be…faithful in prayer,” and Colossians 4:2 says, “Devote yourselves to prayer.” Do not make excuses if you have a weak or even non-existent prayer life. Learn to pray...

What does the Bible say about the fear of the Lord? Should we really fear God?
(2056 Reads)
In Scripture, the fear of God is often shown to be the motivation for obedience. Parents understand this concept. As much as parents want their children to obey out of love and common decency, most parents are aware that children often obey because of their fear of consequences. So too, the fear of God, meaning the fear of His judgment, can be the reason why a person stops sinning or walks away from sin before getting involved...

Five Biblical Crowns: incorruptible, of rejoicing, of righteousness, life, glory
(6584 Reads)
God describes ways in which He will reward Christians who go “above and beyond.” God’s extra incentives are referred to in Scripture as “crowns.” Although the exact nature of these crowns and what they entail is not specifically stated, and the behaviors for which they are credited are elsewhere recommended for all believers, a brief discussion of them is relevant...

What the Bible says about what will we be doing forever in heaven? Actually...
(2028 Reads)

In the future Kingdom there will be different positions and responsibilities. At the Judgment, each person will “receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Cor. 5:10). Therefore, every person will not receive the same reward or assume the same responsibilities. So, the question is not, “What will we be doing in heaven,” but, “What will we be doing in our future life on earth?” The answer to this question can be found...

What does the Bible say about when Christian's will receive their rewards?
(2692 Reads)
The Bible promises that those who obey God will be rewarded in the future. However, there is no verse of Scripture that specifically says specifically how or when the rewards will be given. It is very likely that an individual’s reward will not be handed out all at once, as if it were a lump-sum cash gift, but rather that it will be given out over time. Since rewards...

Bible Study: Should a Christian be motivated by the rewards they will receive?
(5172 Reads)
While it is wonderful to obey God simply out of love for Him, it is not wrong to see the value in obeying Him to obtain a reward. God did not have to mention rewards in the Kingdom, but He did. The fact that He speaks of rewards in verse after verse should speak loudly to those who are wise. God wants to reward every believer richly, but He is just, so He will pass out rewards that have been earned.

Where did the idea originate that Christians would live forever in Heaven?
(6646 Reads)
After God plainly told Adam that he would “surely die” if he partook of the fruit of the tree of good and evil, the Devil lied and said to Eve, “You will not surely die” (Gen. 3:4). Ever since that time, the Devil has been actively promoting this same lie wherever and whenever possible. Unfortunately, the idea that people continue living on after they die has found a fertile breeding ground in most religions, including orthodox Christianity.

A person’s perception of the next life has a significant impact on his or her view of this life. People who believe there is no future life are likely to live in excess in this life, exhibiting attitudes like “get it while you can” or “do unto others before they do unto me.” The Bible points this attitude out in Isaiah...

Verses used to support the idea that our everlasting future is in Heaven
(3909 Reads)
While many verses in the Bible are so plain that even a child can read and understand them, for instance, “You shall not steal,” many other verses can be more difficult to grasp. This is attributed to several factors. For one thing, the Bible was originally written in another language (actually three other languages—Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) and the recorded events took place in another culture. This can sometimes result in...

When does the Bible say God / Jesus will judge people [Christians]. In future?
(2164 Reads)
It is commonly believed that God judges people “today” and that He does so by causing good things to happen to “good” people and bad things to happen to “bad” people. Some four thousand years ago Job’s friends held this belief, and it has continued through the ages. In spite of its many supporters, Scripture indicates that this belief is erroneous. When something bad happens to a Christian, it is not God judging that person...
