Rest for the Soul: Music, Sleep, Nature, Humor, Friends, Prayer, Scripture

I was raised in a traditional Christian denomination—I loved God, I loved the Word, and I was well-versed in the doctrine of the Trinity: I was taught that one has great faith when he/she believes in the mysterious “double nature” of Christ and his personage in the Trinity. However, a friend challenged me to dig into Scripture to see for myself who Jesus Christ is. After months of spiritual unrest and searching the Word, I finally relinquished my inherited tradition of the divinity of Christ and sought to embrace him as the sinless Son of God who sacrificed...

Who is Allah? What does the Bible say about Allah [The Moslem's God]?

There are some very important differences between the God of the Bible and Allah: God's only begotten son is Jesus. Allah has no begotten son. God made salvation available by sacrificing His Son and promises salvation by grace to those who believe. Allah sacrificed nothing, and only saves if sufficient works are done. God has a payment for sins—Jesus Christ. Allah has no payment for sins, etc.

Authors Note: A while back I received an e-mail from an old friend and brother in Christ who I hadn’t spoken to in several years. Among other things, he told me he was seeking to better understand what it means to be “strong in grace,” and that any insight I could impart to him would be greatly appreciated. Not being a believer in the concept of coincidence, I took his contacting me as a call from the Lord speaking to both our hearts...

[The following article is an edited transcription of our March/April 1995 audio tape, The Last Week of Christ’s Life by John Schoenheit.]
Christ’s sacrifice was essential. Ever since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, mankind has needed a redeemer—needed a sacrifice. We have needed a sacrifice with sinless blood but yet one from the flock. That sacrifice was the Man, Jesus Christ...

Did God Really Forsake Jesus Christ on the Cross?
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
These words that Jesus cried out as he was hanging on the Cross have been a source of much confusion and debate among Christians through the years. Some teach that Jesus became sin, God cannot look on sin, and thus God forsook His Son.

How many others [robbers, malefactors, thieves] were crucified with Jesus?
(32823 Reads)

A majority of Christians have been taught that our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified along with two others, and that his cross was in between the other two. We have seen many displays, pictures, monuments, bumper stickers, crosses along the roadside, crosses in churchyards, and the like - all showing three crosses...

So when you find yourself thinking and rethinking thoughts that distract you from what's true, stop. Cast them over to your heavenly Father. Replace those thoughts with the "excellent and praiseworthy." This takes some real conscious effort, but the end result is peace. When you give your distractions to God, you will experience...
