Fellowship Network

The Importance of Group-Specific Fellowships, Bible studies     (150 Reads)
Fellowship Network This world is extremely tough for women, in so many different ways. On a daily basis, women are constantly inundated with images of what we should look like, expectations of how we should act, and are expected to stand strong through difficult circumstances. It is, however, much too unrealistic to expect women to adhere to the world’s standards and still stand strong in their faith.

Going to Church: Is it out of fashion? Eph. 4:1 walk worthily, Greek word axios     (261 Reads)
Fellowship Network In the post-modern culture of the early twenty-first century, the question, “Has going to church gone out of fashion?” seems to be very relevant. It would seem that many of my generation as well as those of my children’s generation have voted “yes” with their feet.

Let’s Meet Together For Good, People are communal, 1 Cor. 11:17, Bible     (216 Reads)
Fellowship Network People are communal beings. Loneliness is a horrible feeling, and it is very disconcerting and uncomfortable to be isolated. This is so universally true that many people hide what they really believe or how they really feel about something just so they will be accepted in a group. There are studies that confirm that people who are connected with others are generally healthier and better adjusted in life than are people who have no close friends or social network to support them.

Fellowship: Intimate joint-participation Greek word koinonia full sharing, Bible     (425 Reads)
Fellowship Network Fellowship is an important concept in the New Testament. The Greek word translated “fellowship” is koinonia, and it occurs in some very pivotal verses. Like many other Greek words, it has several meanings that overlap to some extent. Koinonia can refer to intimate participation and full sharing with others, such as in the verses that speak of our “fellowship” with Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 1:9; 10:16). It can refer to the sharing of our lives with one another (Gal. 2:9). It can also refer to sharing in a more limited sense, such as our sharing money or material goods with others (Rom. 15:26, “contribution”; 2 Cor. 9:13).

What is the Church? Greek kuriakon, ekklesia, Matthew 18:20, two or more     (406 Reads)
Fellowship Network Many verses in the New Testament speak of the “church,” so it is important to understand what “church” means. The first definition of “church” in modern English dictionaries is something like, “a building for Christian worship,” and it is only the second or third definition that says something like, “a body of Christians,” or “the collective body of Christians.” In the Bible, however, the word “church” never refers to a building, but always to people; specific groups of people.

Let’s Get Together! Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, Bible     (301 Reads)
Fellowship Network I really look forward to getting together with people I love. I come from a large family with five sisters and two brothers, not to mention the countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and now the many, many in-laws. Gallagher family gatherings have become legendary as times of great joy and celebration. It is very easy for me to take God’s admonition to His children to heart when He tells us we should be meeting together.

Fellowship Network Statement of Faith: Ephesians 4:4 one body, one spirit     (216 Reads)
Fellowship Network We believe it is important that those participating in the Fellowship Network uphold the same core beliefs. We believe that the Scriptures are “God-breathed,” perfect in their original writing, without flaw or contradiction, and provide the only sure and steadfast basis for faith. As such, the Bible defines the fundamentals of faith, as described in Ephesians 4:4. These are: one body, one spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God. Every Christian must subscribe to them in order to guard the “unity of the spirit.”

Confessions of a Homeboy: Benefits of Home Fellowships / traditional church     (804 Reads)
Fellowship Network The other day I was talking with a good friend when he said, “I have to confess, I guess I’m a homeboy.” I was a little confused, not really knowing what he meant. I knew that “Homeboy” is a slang term sometimes used by the younger generation when they refer to their good friends. The problem was that I am in my mid-fifties and so is my friend, and I am not really used to hearing one of my friends use that term. Then it hit me—he was referring to his affection and fondness for our local home church, meaning that he really prefers the intimate home setting instead of the traditional church.

The Balance of Truth and Love: Valuing Right Doctrine and Right Relationships     (944 Reads)
Fellowship Network [This article is an edited transcription of our March 2006 Tape / CD of the Month, The Balance of Truth and Love: Valuing Right Doctrine and Right Relationships by John Schoenheit.]

I think all of us know that we are supposed to be loving. We know we are supposed to be kind to people. Why is it when we settle upon something that we believe and say, “This is what I believe; this is the truth,” that it is so hard for us to be truly kind and compassionate and loving to others and have friends that do not believe like us? I think it has to do with...

Reaching out with the Love of God or Christianity: The Come as you are Party     (978 Reads)
Fellowship Network [The following article is an edited transcription of our March / April 2001 audio teaching by John W. Schoenheit, Reaching Out with the Love of God Or Christianity: The Come as You Are Party.] Sometimes as Christians we forget, especially when we are older Christians and have been in the faith a little longer. We exercise our senses to discern good from evil. We get so sharp on what is right and what is wrong. We see things that are wrong in other people’s lives, and it is so easy to go up and tell them...

A Godly Way To Handle Christian Persecution, 2 Timothy 3:12 Matthew 5:10     (2095 Reads)
Fellowship Network There is nothing more certain than the fact that we will face adversity. Some of this will be natural. For example, if we want to learn to hang glide or do technical mountain climbing, we will find gravity to be a serious adversary. But this is not a personal thing. Gravity adversely affects everyone who tries to go against it. We understand this, this is not hard to deal with, and we can easily accept it in evaluating the benefits or the consequences of our choices.

Developmental Stages of a Christian Home Fellowship, Bible study, Church     (2839 Reads)
Fellowship Network Through the years I’ve experienced the joy, and at times the pain, of both hosting and belonging to a small group. These groups have been related to my work, personal, and religious life. At times I’ve been confused by what seems like the continually changing nature of the small group, asking myself, “Why can’t things just stay the same?”

Well the simple fact is that, just like people, small groups go through phases of development or stages of growing up. The following are the various...

Fellowship Network A fellowship can be any gathering of saints who come together to glorify the Father and His Son. The objective of the fellowship is “to make disciples” and help us all conform to the image of Christ. That gives us a lot of latitude for activities and options that can be called a “fellowship.”
