Sex & Scripture

Is it wrong for Christians to be part of a nudist colony / naturist gathering?     (1987 Reads)
Sex & Scripture The book of Genesis tells us that prior to the Fall of man, Adam and Eve were naked in the original Paradise. As husband and wife in their innocent state, everything was fine with that. But then they disobeyed God and, as a result, became dominated by a sinful nature, which they passed on to all their descendants, including you and me. The reason they clothed themselves with fig leaves is because they were then ashamed and guilty before God, and thus tried to hide behind the fig leaves just like they tried to hide behind the trees. They had lost their innocence.

The gay [same-sex attraction] agenda. The sin of homosexuality causes...     (6476 Reads)
Sex & Scripture Part of the gay agenda is to promote the idea that there is scientific evidence that proves sexual orientation is genetically predetermined. Why would this be important? If your genes determine homosexuality, then your sexual orientation is determined when you are born. This removes personal accountability but, more importantly, makes God’s Word a mockery. After all, how could homosexuality...

Christian Bible study: The powerful influence of the human sexual drive     (3432 Reads)
Sex & Scripture The study of godly sexual behavior is not just an academic endeavor. There are few things that influence people as powerfully as the sexual drive, so it is no wonder that Satan uses it to destroy lives and negatively influence society. Sexual attraction has profoundly influenced the course of mankind, and both history and the Bible testify to this...

1 Corinthians 7 Bible verses on Abstinence, Celibacy, Cohabitation, Marriage     (17964 Reads)
Sex & Scripture 1 Corinthians 7 contains some of the clearest teaching in the Bible concerning abstinence before marriage, celibacy, sexual intercourse inside and outside of marriage, and sexual obligations. The people of Corinth were interested in proper sexual behavior and had written to the Apostle Paul about it...

What does Bible say about adultery [mocheia]? A serious sin in God's eyes     (14506 Reads)
Sex & Scripture Adultery is a much more serious sin than sex before marriage because covenants, commitments, promises and expectations are involved. A marriage covenant is very serious in the eyes of God. Disregarding the covenants made before men and God and destroying the “one flesh” arrangement God created when “He created them male and female” is a very serious sin, one that...

What does the Bible [God] say about homosexuality, gay / lesbian behavior?     (5339 Reads)
Sex & Scripture Homosexual and lesbian behavior is sin, and is forbidden in the Bible. The graphic word arsenokoites (from arsen, “male,” and koite, bed) describes a man who “beds” another man. Although arsenokoites is sometimes used in a wide sense referring to all homosexuality, it also had a narrower sense, referring to the one who took the active or “male” role in the homosexual relation. The one who took the passive or “female” role was called the malachos...

What does the Bible say about sexual lust [Greek, epithumia]? Romans 1:27     (4608 Reads)
Sex & Scripture It is not always only outward behavior that is sin. Sexual lust is also sinful in the sight of God. God gives people the ability to think and to control their thoughts and desires. The option to think and desire either good or evil is very clear in the Greek text, because most words for “desire” can describe either good or bad desires

What does the Bible [God] say about pornography [Greek, pornographos]?     (7327 Reads)
Sex & Scripture The Greek word pornographos (pornography) literally means “writing about harlots” or “the writing of harlots” (porne, “harlot, prostitute,” and graphe, “writing, a thing written”). Today, many bookstores have scores of books and magazines that contain both the “writing of harlots” and “writing about harlots.”

What does the Bible [God] say about masturbation? Scriptures for / against it     (21127 Reads)
Sex & Scripture A firestorm of conflicting opinions usually accompanies any discussion of masturbation. One reason for that is that there is no specific biblical teaching on it. It is in the Bible, although not in the verses usually used to refer to it. Teachings on masturbation run the gambit from “It is normal, healthy behavior” to “It is always a sin and will lead to sexual addiction and perversion.”

Galatians 5:23 The fruit of the Spirit: Self Control [Greek, egkrateia]     (4344 Reads)
Sex & Scripture God expects the Christian to exercise moral restraint. “Self control” is mentioned many times in Scripture. One of the Greek words used to communicate the idea that Christians are to be controlled and to exercise godly behavior is egkrateia, and it and its related words mean “power over oneself.”

Bible study: Forgiveness and Healing as it Relates to Sexual Sin, 1 John 1:9     (4945 Reads)
Sex & Scripture With God’s help, each person can find ways to strengthen weak areas and be a better and stronger Christian because of past experiences. If you have been involved in sexual sin, and especially if you are suffering consequences from that sin, do not allow the Adversary to...
