What Does the Bible [God] Say About a Christian Getting a Tattoo? Lev. 19:28
(9826 Reads)
In my youth, the only people who had tattoos were military veterans like my neighbor or those people who lived on the outer fringes of society. The words “tattoos” and “respectable” were not two words that would be in the same sentence unless someone said, “No respectable person ever gets a tattoo.” Times have changed and now it seems that people in all types of professions are getting tattoos. Today tattoos are no longer the domain of hardcore outlaw bikers, they are being prominently displayed on the appendages of musicians, actors, athletes, and other professionals. It seems virtually impossible to watch professional sports today and not see many men’s arms covered in ink, some even going so far as to be branded with hot irons, or having all types of piercings. Given the rise in popularity of people marking and modifying their bodies in all types of ways, it is only natural that Christians should pause and ask themselves, “What does the Bible (God) say about Christians getting tattoos?” And also, “Is it okay for a Christian to modify (tattoo) the body this way?”

Is an earthquake an act of God or the will of God? According to the Bible, verse
(1786 Reads)
According to the Bible, wherein God speaks for Himself, earthquakes are acts of the Devil, God’s archenemy, and a fallen world. Ditto for hurricanes, tornadoes, cyclones, floods, famines (from not enough rain), and all other destructive “natural” events. This is in keeping with Jesus’ statement in John 10:10 that Satan’s goals relative to mankind are to “steal, kill, and destroy.” Is that what earthquakes do? Yes—just ask the residents of Haiti and other counties that have been hit hard by an earthquake.

What is the binding and loosing Matthew 16:19 and 18:18 refers to?
(845 Reads)
“Binding” and “loosing” were common terms used by the Rabbis in biblical times. When the rabbis “bound” something, they “forbade” it, and when they “loosed” something, they “permitted” it. In spite of the fact that the terms were commonly used at the time of Christ, many Christians today are confused about what these terms mean...

Why would God make a man blind from birth to show His work? John 9:1-3
(631 Reads)
The question, “Why did this happen?” is often found on the lips of those who witness evil. Such was the case when Jesus and his disciples once encountered a man who had been born blind. The disciples asked whether it was the man’s sin or his parents’ sin that caused his blindness. Jesus said it was neither and healed the man—setting a beautiful example of never blaming the victim but taking action to help those who are hurting. Unfortunately, rather than blame the victim, some people still use this passage to blame God for the man’s blindness, and the way it reads in most versions does make it seem as if God made the man blind for the purpose of healing him.

It would be hard for our supporters to develop their own relationship with the poor in other countries through their own travel and research, but we have been to the Philippines, Africa, Haiti, etc., and have reported back on what we have found and who we believe are good people to invest in. In this way the Body of Christ works together to benefit all. The poor are helped and the wealthier are given an opportunity to help.

The Bible is a very detailed document, and there are many things it says about the ancient world that have not been substantiated by secular historians. However, more of the people, places, and events mentioned in the Bible are substantiated by historians as more historical texts are read and translated, and as archaeologists and historians discover more about the ancient world.

Christ’s sacrifice was essential. Ever since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, mankind has needed a redeemer—needed a sacrifice. We have needed a sacrifice with sinless blood but yet one from the flock. That sacrifice was the Man, Jesus Christ...

Homosexual and lesbian behavior is sin, and is forbidden in the Bible. The graphic word arsenokoites (from arsen, “male,” and koite, bed) describes a man who “beds” another man. Although arsenokoites is sometimes used in a wide sense referring to all homosexuality, it also had a narrower sense, referring to the one who took the active or “male” role in the homosexual relation. The one who took the passive or “female” role was called the malachos...

How do you know that you are a called Evangelist?
(420 Reads)

What is an evangelist? That’s a good question, because you might be one. And if you are called (even if it was long ago) to such a function in the Body of Christ, surely you want to fulfill that calling and maximize your potential for the one who fulfilled his calling and died for you. Our risen Lord Jesus was the Evangelist, as he was the Apostle, Prophet, Pastor, and Teacher, that is, he vividly exemplified each of these functions, and that is why he is now most capable...

Who was the Bible [Scripture] written to?
(393 Reads)
"What does the Bible say?" That is always the "bottom line," but the answer must be understood in light of to whom the Bible is speaking. Scripture says that in the spectrum of human history, there are three, and only three, basic groups of people: "Jews, Gentiles, and the Church of God" (1 Cor. 10:32). Each part of God's Word is written to one (and sometimes more than one) of those categories...

What word was translated Hell in the Bible? Sheol, Greek: Hades, Gehenna

If God were trying to use the threat of eternal torment as a deterrent to sin, John 3:16 might read: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not burn forever, but have everlasting life.” And God could have made that plain in many other verses as well. The fact that the Bible simply says “perish” indicates that the unsaved will die, and thus exist no more...

What is the proper [correct] translation of the Sixth [6th] Commandment?
(446 Reads)
The most common reason why people believe the Bible does not support the death penalty is because the King James Version and the versions of the Bible read by most Roman Catholics give the Sixth commandment in Exodus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 5:17 as, “Thou shalt not kill.” The Hebrew word translated “kill” in the Sixth Commandment is ratsach, and it can mean “kill” or “slay,” either on purpose or accidentally.

Think for a moment about the significance of a birthday, say, your birthday. Since the dawn of time, what happened on the day you were born had never happened before, and will never happen again. And so it is for every human being ever born, including the man whose...

What does the Bible say about Tithing? Does Scripture [God] command it?
(703 Reads)

The question must be: “What does the Bible say to Christians about financial giving?” Why? Because what God says to Christians about financial giving is different than what He said to the Jews of the Old Testament about it. The sad news is that today very few Christians understand the difference, and, as a result, many are unnecessarily living under emotional and financial stress.

Are there parts of the Bible that were left out, lost, or missing?

Another fairly common misconception about the Bible is that it is in some way incomplete, i.e., that it has books missing. The 66 books that compose the modern Bible are known as the “canon,” a theological word that means, “the books of the Bible officially accepted as Holy Scripture.” Some doubters of the Bible think church councils constructed the Bible by arbitrarily choosing the books they thought...

What are the differences between Allah and the God of the Christian Bible
(465 Reads)
There are some very important differences between the God of the Bible and Allah: God's only begotten son is Jesus. Allah has no begotten son. God made salvation available by sacrificing His Son and promises salvation by grace to those who believe. Allah sacrificed nothing, and only saves if sufficient works are done. God has a payment for sins—Jesus Christ. Allah has no payment for sins, etc.
